The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup is just weeks away and Christchurch is looking forward to hosting what promises to be a fantastic international spectacle. Christchurch has the privilege of hosting some of the world’s best footballing nations such as Germany, who are current world champions at the senior level, and Korea DPR, who are current holders of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Teams like Brazil, Japan and Paraguay also promise to be entertaining plus the semi-finals will be held at QEII Park. With millions of people expected to watch the event worldwide, plus football tourists who will be visiting for the event, it is a great opportunity to showcase our city. If Cantabrians haven't already seen tournament information around the region then they soon will. Official Christchurch tournament posters will be on display at community groups, libraries and Council service centres. Thirty-five street banners will be installed in key Christchurch locations. Tournament flyers will also be delivered to over 150,000 home owners with their standard rates demands and locals who bring their rates insert voucher along to the FIFA tournament will get a child’s ticket free with each paying adult. This offer is for matches on Saturday 1 November and the semi-finals on Thursday 13 November. Pool matches in Christchurch will be played on Wednesday 29 October, Saturday 1 November and Wednesday 5 November. Semi-finals will be held on Thursday 13 November.
