Volunteers - your opportunity of a lifetime!

After a month of recruitment now under our belts, we have had a fantastic response from interested parties and keen football followers ready and rearing to get involved as a volunteer.  In saying this, we are targeting 1200 volunteers so we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

Not only will you get to watch great football, meet new friends of all ages and rub shoulders with tomorrows stars, you will also receive invites to exclusive volunteer events, an official adidas uniform and receive complementary tickets to all matches you work at to give to your family or friends.

Here's someone who has already offered to volunteer... Introducing Kevin Clarke!

Media Liaison / Media Management

Year of the Cat (Al Stewart) / The Crow Road by Iain Banks / Shawshank Redemption

I've been to so many world cups and internationals on the media side and have wanted to use my experience on the other side of the fence to help where I can.

Friendly, creative, outgoing

Greg Norman – he always carried himself with dignity win or lose

UEFA Cup Final in Seville, 2003. Four days of fun and football.

The place I’d want to return to would be Provence in the South of France or Israel.
Place I’ve never been but want to visit would be Santorini in Greece or Antarctica

I am looking forward to the challenge this tournament will represent to me personally and to new Zealand as a country. The chance to play a small part in New Zealand and football’s sporting history is just the cream on top.

That’s easy for me. I’d love to be the official photographer to the All Whites at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa but I’d go to the Olympics as a training run as well.

This is going to be huge. I don’t think the country realizes how big a deal this is. The exposure on offer for us as a country is immeasurable with the media interest from overseas. As a sport it’s a massive boost for the game here. Personally I can’t wait. Bring it on!

Want to know more information about volunteering?

You can get all the information you need by going to
http://www.FIFA.com/u17womenworldcup.  Here you can download the Volunteer Information Form and either fill it in online or post it back to us, to register your interest as a volunteer.  This site will also give you a summary of all the job roles, as well as a presentation that will give you a brief background to the event.  Keep an eye on this site as it will continue to be developed as we get closer to the tournament.

Volunteers required for The Draw - June 1

If you live in Wellington and are around on Queen’s Birthday weekend, there is no better chance to get a sneak preview of how this tournament will be run than by being a volunteer.  We require a number of people for roles based at the airport and hotels to meet and greet VIPs, teams and officials, as well as drivers to transport these people around the city, and also a host of people who would act as FIFA Assistants, putting together packs after the draw has taken place.  These people may also be used in setting up the event at Te Papa.  You would need to be available from 28 May to 03 June in a part time capacity.  If you are interested in this, then please email our Volunteer Manager Brendan Bourke at
volunteers@fifau17.co.nz for more information.

Team Liason Officers

We are on the search for Team Liaison Officers (TLO’s) who will be involved with each of the teams from the day they arrive in the country to the day they depart.  This could be anything from 24 October to 16 November, bearing in mind if they do not make it past the pool stages it could be as early as 05 November.  Speaking the language of the qualified country is essential, and desirable, so if you think that this role is of interest to you please let Brendan know and he will give you more information.

Spread the word - get excited!

If you have any friends, family, work mates or team mates that you think would like to get involved, please feel free to pass on the website link above or get them to email Brendan for more information.  This is going to be a bigger event than can be imagined and the more people who benefit by being involved the better for all.
