Trophy tour continues
September - Hundreds of budding Beckhams were delighted to get up close and personal with the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup trophy as it toured the country this month. The tour has included visits to schools, clubs, council offices, sports organisations and hotels where the 16 teams will stay during the tournament which starts 28 October. Read more |
Media Accreditation now open August - FIFA and the Local Organising Committee are pleased to announce that the media accreditation process for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2008 is now open via the FIFA Media Channel. The deadline for accreditation applications is 19 September 2008. Read more

Volunteer numbers reach 900
August - People from all over the country (and the world!) of all ages, shapes, sizes, skills, experience and level of football fanaticism, have been putting their hands up to volunteer. We now have 900 but we're still keen to hear from people with particular skills as drivers, ticketing, media and general administration. Trophy travels length of the country
August - Over the past two months, the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup trophy has toured each of the host cities and ended up in Auckland where it is currently making visits to a wide range of schools and clubs. New Zealand to meet Canada in World Cup Opener July - New Zealand will open the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup against Canada at North Harbour Stadium on October 28 after a supplementary draw was completed in Zurich. Canada – who clinched the final berth in the 16-team tournament with a 1-0 victory over Mexico in the bronze medal match of the CONCACAF (North and Central America) U-17 championship – join Scandinavian heavyweights Denmark and South American champions Colombia in a power-packed Group A. Draw finalised for FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup July - The stage is set for the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand with a 16-strong field now decided and the final draw being completed. Two months on from an initial draw that threw up as many questions as answers, the remaining qualifiers were added to the mix to round off some potentially thrilling sections. Read more

Flamingoes, Black Maidens qualify
July - The two African teams to compete at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup have been decided after qualification matches throughout June and July. Nigeria's U-17 team, known as the Flamingoes, and Ghana's U-17 team, known as the Black Maidens, have emerged triumphant placing first and second respectively. Read more

New Zealand finish Paraguay tour with a draw July - Second half substitute Sarah McLaughlin grabbed an 82nd minute equaliser for New Zealand’s U-17 women footballers as they finished their tour of Paraguay with a 1-1 draw with the hosts in Asunción on Saturday morning (NZ time). New Zealand finished the four team tournament in third place on four points behind Paraguay on goal difference. Read more |

South America tour for Young Football Ferns
July - The Young Football Ferns are currently away in Paraguay as part of their build up to the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. The team won its first game in the quadrangular tournament involving Paraguay's U-17 team and club sides Cerro Porteno and Universidad Autonoma. Read more
