2007: Lochhead was given his chance to seal a starting spot for club and country against Wales in late May. The 25-year-old, who was barely recognisable when he turned up for the All Whites tour of the Americas in March minus is trademark curls, has signed a two year A-League deal with the Herbert-coached Wellington Phoenix after making 16 MLS appearances for the New England Revolution in the US in 2006. Played the full 90 against Wales after being substituted in both of the losses to Costa Rica and Venezuela in March.

2006: Club committments for MLS side New England Revolution limited Lochhead's international availability. Played both matches against Chile in April  before making the end of season club tour of England and Spain where he played in the 1-1 draw against English premier leaguers Charlton Athletic and the 5-1 loss to Uefa Cup holders FC Sevilla.
